Nail Awards

In addition to offering the Big Nail as a public service tool for the Warren/metro-Detroit community and its charitable organizations, the Big Nail's owner, Ralph Roberts, uses the Big Nail to recognize exceptional achievements by ordinary citizens.

Tough as Nails Award: The "Tough as Nails Award" is given to those individuals who persevere through difficulties and prove their ability to remain strong. The first Tough as Nails Award was given to Roberts' own father, "The Boss," who fought cancer for seven years and was there when Roberts took ownership of the nail.

Nailed It Award: The Nailed It Award is given to those individuals who follow their dreams and go above-and-beyond expectations in their pursuit. The first Nail It Award was given to a fourth-grade student for initiating a "Quarters for Christmas" fundraiser to raise money for his city's annual Christmas parade, which had been cut due to a budget deficit.
