Over the last couple of years, I have talked with three of the builders, nationwide, that have participated in the Extreme Makeovers and it has changed their lives as well. Most people believe builders are cunning and greedy. But projects such as this show the true altruistic and best side of a wonderful industry.

]]>An Armada Township family received their new home Monday afternoon, one week after ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” crews arrived to complete a project that will be shown later on national television.
Maryann Gilliam, a widow, and her six children were shown the replacement of their 1886-era farmhouse, which was torn down. Gilliam’s husband, who was redoing the house, died suddenly last Christmas Eve. The family was living with relatives in Mt. Clemens before it was picked by the show to have its home rebuilt.
Macomb County-based American Heartland Homebuilder and Lombardo Homes combined to work with 3,000 contractors and volunteers as well as the show’s personalities to complete the home in a little more than two days.
An airdate was not known, but the show is expected to run on ABC during the upcoming season.
